Eastern adventures in prospect for UEL sides

Bala, Nomads and Druids learn QR1 fates.

The three JD Welsh Premier League sides in this season's UEFA Europa League have found out who they will or could face in Qualifying Round 1 this morning in Geneva.

Connah's Quay Nomads will meet Shakhtyor Soligorsk of Belarus. Shakhtyor have played in the Europa League in each of the last seven seasons, making it past the Second Qualifying Round on one occasion when they were knocked out in the Playoff Round by PSV Eindhoven in 2014/15.

A win against Tre Fiori in the Preliminary Round will send Bala to Slovenia to meet NK Rudar Velenje. Rudar were the lowest ranked seeded team in the draw, and finished fourth in the Slovenian PrvaLiga last season. Their last European campaign was in 2014/15, when they went out in QR1 to Albanian side Laci.

For Cefn Druids, the prize awaiting them if they beat Trakai is a trip to Kazakhstan to face FC Irtysh Pavlodar. Fourth in last season's Kazakhstan Premier League, their best performance in continental competition was reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Cup Winners' Cup in 2000/01, before the Football Federation of Kazakhstan became a member of UEFA.

The draw for QR2 will be made at 13:00.
