Thomas helps Old Gold overcome Nomads

<1r>In an entertaining first half, there were chances at both ends, but Old Gold 'keeper Neil Thomas was in fine form to keep the Nomads out. He saved excellently from Peter Doran and Tommy Mutton, whilst Phil Doran's long-range effort glanced the crossbar. Tim Hicks was guilty at the other end of missing a fine opportunity, but the goal finally came of the hosts on the stroke of Half Time.

It was a very well worked effort from the Old Gold as Sasha Walters cruised to the by-line before pulling the ball back towards Hicks, but the striker cleverly dummied to allow Danny Thomas the chance and he obliged.

Chris Maxwell saved well with his feet after the interval to deny Hicks and he also saved from a back-post Mark Dodds header shortly afterwards. However the young 'keeper was to blame for the second goal when he failed to gather a through ball from Lee Hudgell and gifted Nathan Cotterrall with the simplest of opportunities to slide home the second.
