More Euro draws as Saints and Nomads enter the fray

UCL and UEL Qualifying Rounds 1 and 2 being drawn tomorrow and Wednesday

There's more European draw action this week involving the four JD Welsh Premier League qualifiers.

Tuesday sees the draws for Qualifying Rounds 1 and 2 of the UEFA Champions League. The New Saints will enter QR1 (drawn at 13:30) as a seeded side, and could face a possible trip to Northern Ireland to play Linfield. Other possible opponents include Maltese side Valletta, who Newtown beat in the 2015 UEL QR1, and Ferencvaros of Hungary.

The draw for QR2 will take place on Wednesday at 11:00, and Saints will be unseeded should they progress. They could potentially meet APOEL from Cyprus, who they lost to in QR2 back in 2016/17; Celtic, should the Scottish side win their QR1 tie, or Dinamo Zagreb.

Should Saints lose in QR1, they will move into the UEFA Europa League. The draw for the Champions path (for teams eliminated from UCL qualifying) section of QR2 will also take place on Wednesday at 11:00. One team from this draw will be given a bye through to QR3, due to the need to balance out an odd number of teams.

The remaining UEL teams will also learn their fates over both days, when the draws for QR1 and QR2 for non-champions are made. UEL QR1 will be drawn on Tuesday at 14:30, while the QR2 non-champions path will be drawn on Wednesday at 13:00.

Connah's Quay Nomads enter at QR1, and will be unseeded. Legia Warsaw, FCSB (formerly Steaua Bucherest) and Malmo are the highest ranked potential opponents in QR1, a side of the draw which also contains Rangers, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock of the Scottish Premiership. Barry Town United and Cardiff Met will also be unseeded for QR1, should they progress from their Preliminary Round ties.

All three teams will see their path mapped out as far as QR2, with Roma, Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolverhampton Wanderers amongst the teams entering at this stage.
